Square or Round...?

I was thinking again on the drive to work this morning if I should base some of my WHFB stuff on round bases and go for the element type / War of the Rings basing or stick with the traditional square bases.
I don't play at any GW stores or local gaming clubs and I prefer round bases for my skirmish games anyway.
The disadvantage with going round would be that units might look smaller due to the diameter of the round base being 25mm as opposed to 20mm square base....

Might try a few and post some pictures.

Osgiliath ruins....mini review

Ok, I have had these for a while and I thought I would take some time off from world of tanks and do some proper old school war gaming. So opening the box, you are confronted by two grey spurs that have some chunky buildings and two statues. Each spur has lots of detail and. You can even make out the individual stone mason marks on each stone. The box set allows you to make 3 ruins for your tabletop. Photos to follow, trying this on my IPad, however don't be worried, I am aiming to blogg this project through to the end!

Musings whilst driving....

Well i get to spend at least 2 hours a day driving to and from work, which gives me plenty of time to thing about the important things in life, mainly have i got my pack lunch and miniatures ....

Well today's drive was all about the new edition of WH40K and if it was worth re investing in the game or just sticking with 3rd edition?
Beast of War site has some pretty interesting video clips of the game mechanics, its seems like a mash up of 2nd edition and LotR rules. I will see how much the new box set costs in September before i take the plunge.

The other question that came to me on the drive, was "do Spacemarines wear socks?" very important if you don't want to get blisters while running around on Power Armour.

More musing coming soon!
